How To Create A Marketing Machine
Today we discuss a 6 point checklist to turn your website into a 24 hour a day marketing machine.
Ask yourself, when you think about your website, do you see a static brochure or a lead generating machine? Your website should be marketing your business 24 7. It should be bringing in clients and leads on a daily basis.
Let's Evaluate Your Own Website With These 6 Pointers
A few items to consider as you evaluate your website.
1. Is your website copy written in the first person? (I, we)
First person is not engaging enough for a website, you need to write in the second person (you, your). Obviously there are some areas that will be written in first person, but the largest percentage of your content should be written in second person.
2. How many pages do you have?
Most business sites usually add up to 7 or 8 pages. With Google, to be considered higher in the page rankings, the more pages you have, the greater chance of getting traffic. Not sure how to add pages to your site? Develop a list of common questions/problems that your customers have. Then you can start writing specific information to help answer questions/problems – one question per page.
3. Is there any means to add content?
Can you add pages and new material easily? If you need an easy way to add content to your site, Can add blog pages. Your daily/weekly blog posts should be keyword driven topics based on what your clients search for. Consider how you can extend your content and gain more authority by reviewing local events.
4. Have you thought about the type of client reading your content?
Who is your target client? Write a profile of your client – marital status, age, career, family, hobbies, aspirations, worries etc – and then write your meaningful content with that client in mind. Once you have established who your customer is, gear your marketing material towards that customer.
5. Does your website have compelling calls to action?
Simply listing a phone number at the top or bottom of your homepage is not enough. People like to be led – for example “Do you have <insert problem>? Then fill out this form and someone will get back to you.” Successfully using a pop-up form is still one of the most effective ways to get people to sign up. It is best to have it pop up 30-60 seconds after a visitor has already started reading content on your site.
6. Is your website being built to build a list or is it simply as a brochure?
Does your website collect contact information from customers or is it just a static brochure. For example you can offer a consumer report about something in your industry. Imagine someone visits your site, they sign up to receive an ebook and in the process they register their email address with you. Now you are building an email list that you can use to drive sales.
